In this article, we gathered and divided the things to do in Norway with kids into three categories: activities suitable for toddlers and kids aged under 5, activities for kids aged 5 and over, and activities for kids aged 12 and more. So, here you can find activities for kids in Norway, depending on your needs and on your kids’ age.

Note: all activities that involve interaction with animals are limited by age. However, there are a few exceptions, and you can find all available options in the article below.

Activities for Families with Toddlers (Aged Under 5)

When it comes to the best activities in winter Norway with kids aged under 5, fjord cruises are the most suitable one. The majority of fjord cruises are fit for this purpose, though we recommend you consult us or your tour operator first. Here, however, we will list some of the best activities for kids under the age of 5 in Norway.

Northern Lights Sailing

Husky Farm Visits

Take your kids to the cozy farm at Finnefjell and explore how husky dogs live here in kennels. Interact with these cute animals and see how they run and play here – the vast spaces they can enjoy here are something these dogs absolutely love! Then, enjoy hot drinks and traditional Norwegian pastry (called “lefse”) by the fire while sharing your impression with other tour participants!

Activities for Kids Aged 12 and Over

Even though we do not recommend the tours listed below to families with kids aged under 12, it is possible to do these activities with kids aged 7 and over. However, we do recommend you consult us or your tour operator before including any of these tours in your trip.

RIB Boat Excursion

In case you are looking for things to do with kids in Norway, the RIB boat tour doesn’t immediately come to mind. But if your child is 12 or older, book this experience and enjoy the Arctic sea breeze.

Your boat will be captained by an experienced skipper and you will get a perfect chance to see the wildlife in the Norwegian fjords from the comfort of your boat. Hot drinks (with some delicious muffins) will keep you warm while you explore the fjords around Tromsø.

Snowmobiling

Snowmobiling is a perfect way to get an unbelievable adrenaline rush as you drive through the snowy plains near Tromsø.
